2017 RAM 1500 vs 2017 Ford F150 near Madison, WIThe pickup truck market is full of options these days, and they're getting better and better. Segment competition is tight, but we still back Ram any day of the week. If you're after a solid, light-duty pickup, you've probably looked into it a bit and put a few trucks at the top of your list. A lot of our customers initially research the Ram 1500 and the Ford F-150, because they're both great trucks in this category. Ultimately, of course, they go for the Ram. Here's why. |
Ram 1500 ComfortYou can't beat the Ram 1500 cab. Everything you need will be at your fingertips- you've got little storage spaces right where you want to stash things like your sunglasses, coffee, wallet, and loose change. The seats are very comfortable, so you can drive long distances without complaints from your back or derrière. The interior is full of high quality materials and soft surfaces in all those good elbow spots. Most importantly: the ride quality of the Ram 1500 can't be beat. Its available adjustable air suspension is unique for its segment, and provides an unbelievably smooth ride. . | Ford F-150 ComfortThe F-150 certainly has some high-end trims that rival Ram 1500 packages. But no matter the trim level, you can't get Ram's unique, top-of-the-line suspension in anything other than a Ram. The ability to easily sail over every bump and pothole (especially the pretty significant ones) makes a Ram pickup truck stand out in its class. The base model Ford F-150 just isn't as high-end or comfy, and that's no good when you need to make a long trip. Auto reviewers and drivers tend to agree that the 2017 Ford F-150 interior is improved over its previous model years, but it's still not as nice as the Ram's fit and finish. | ||
Ram 1500 TechnologyThe available Ram 1500 touchscreen is easy to use, but there are also separate knobs for things like volume control if you prefer the analog touch. It also has really nice available features like a customizable digital instrument cluster. For navigation, entertainment, and hands-free phone calls through your compatible smartphone, you can opt for Uconnect. | Ford F-150 TechnologyThe F-150 has a similar available infotainment system as the Ram, but a lot of drivers find the Ram technology to be easier and more intuitive. Ford's SYNC 3 technology can be tricky to pair with mobile devices, and overall, the Ram just has a more straightforward system. That counts for a lot when you really need to be focusing on the road. |
ConclusionsRam 1500 is at the Top of the ClassIn addition to superior comfort and driving experience, Ram offers a diesel option for the 1500 which is the only diesel available in the light-duty pickup class. With all of its trim levels, engines, and configurability, the Ram 1500 is one of the most flexible pickup trucks available. You can get exactly what you're looking for, at a reasonable price and excellent value. Ultimately, we think the Ram 1500 is going to offer you a much better driving experience than the Ford can. The Ram offers one of the smoothest and most comfortable rides in the truck world, and the interior is downright elegant in higher trim levels. It's a really durable, comfy, high-value-for-your-money truck. So- how do you want to configure your new Ram 1500 pickup? |
